The factory VW starter is an old-skool direct drive design, If you are running a High Performance donk or have swapped in a later model water cooled engine in your VW then you will find the factory starters less then adequate.

With many people choosing the transplant subaru EJ series motors into Aircooled VW's the logical choice was to make an adaptor plate and pinion to suit a Subaru starter motor.

After market hi-torque starters are expensive and can be difficult to source. They also crank over slower then many factory starters. By using a cranky kit and a factory subaru starter you are using a starter designed to start a modern engine.

Kits Consists of:
- 1 x Machined alloy adaptor plate with mounting flange for gearbox and starter.
- 1 x Cranky Kits custom replacement pinion.
- 1 x Detailed instructions for fitting the kit.
- All mounting Hardware/Bolts.

CK002 can be used on any aircooled (non 091) gearbox/bell housing.

1-June-2008 The Subaru Starter to VW bellhousing (CK001) kit is in final testing stages with several in use. The kit will be ready for market in the next couple of weeks.
